Final push

Hello readers,

I'm back with my last update on the water challenge I decided to take on. So, how did it go? Well, let me tell you, it was not easy. But it was so worth it. Here are some of the things I learned, enjoyed, and struggled with, and what I would change about this experience.

I’ve learned a couple of things during the past few weeks, drinking water has so many great benefits for your body. I learned that I had lots more energy throughout the day not as tired and I noticed my skin was not as dry at the end of the day. I found that I was more alert, focused, and happy when I drank enough water. At the end of this challenge, I tried to make drinking water a bit more fun by adding some fruits and substituting water for some herbal teas. These variations made me look forward to drinking more water.

Something I enjoyed about this was seeing all the small positive changes to my physical health. I was in a better mood overall and my skin has never looked better! I was proud of myself for finally sticking with my goal of drinking water and having a healthier option rather than having juice or pop in my diet.

My biggest challenge well it comes as no surprise that drinking 12 cups of water every day was a challenge within itself. I thought I was only supposed to drink 8 cups of water daily which would have been much easier to accomplish, than the 12 cups I discovered I should be drinking. I had to constantly remind myself to drink water, but it helped that I always had multiple water bottles around the house and one with me. The first two weeks I found the challenge of constantly feeling like I had to go to the bathroom! Thankfully my body got accustomed to all the water I was taking, and bathroom trips became less frequent weekly.

Something I would change for the next time I decide to take on this challenge would be to drink less water in the late evening. I found the more water I drank late at night the fuller my bladder would be in the morning and that was a bit uncomfortable for me. Another little change I would make is to try to drink more room-temperature water, I did notice I would drink more water when it was at room temperature than water that was directly from the fridge.

Now that the challenge is over, I don't plan to stop drinking water. I've learned to love water and appreciate its importance for my health and well-being. I want to keep drinking enough water every day and make it a habit. However, I don't think I will be drinking 12 cups of water every day haha! I am intrigued to search for an app or some sort of light-up water bottle to remind me to drink water every hour, maybe this would help me stay hydrated during the whole day.

I’ve made a little graft in my final product section to show the different outcomes of 4 things I’ve taken notes on. The two weeks I went to the bathroom a lot more than in week 3 and 4, I also saw a great improvement in my energy levels and my skin health. I’m hoping by incorporating this new habit I will see more positive changes to my physical health and maybe lose a couple of pounds along the way too

That's it for this blog post. Thank you for reading and joining me on this challenge. I hope you learned something from it and maybe got inspired to try it yourself.

Until next time,

Christianne Lessard

Water: A Daily Requirement

Hello fellow readers!  You may have heard that drinking 8 cups of water is important for your health, but do you know why? Is 8 cups really the amount everyone should be drinking? Before finding out how drinking enough water every day affects my body, I wanted to find out how much water my body needs every day and what tips I can do to do so. So go ahead, grab a glass of water, and let's get started!  First I researched how much water I should be drinking in a day. I learned that there are different answers to this question for everyone. Daily water consumption varies from your exercise, the environment, your overall health, and for women if they are pregnant or breastfeeding. I found it challenging to know the correct answer to the question: what is the recommended daily water intake? Water Intake Recommendations Infographic. (n.d.). Retrieved January 20, 2024   There are multiple different answers on different websites that I've searched. Some would say six to eight gla...
