More water?

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog!

First of all, let me tell you all that drinking 12 cups of water is not an easy task to do. I will admit some days I was not able to drink the full daily amount of water I needed. Since my research from last week on how much water I should be drinking, I realized that 8 cups of water is not enough for me. This is why I will be drinking 12 cups of water instead of the 8 cups I was originally going to drink.

Let's just say, this is a lot of liquid to drink in a day, and it definitely made me go to the bathroom more often daily, especially in the morning. It was the first thing I would have to do as soon as I stepped out of bed. I would even go right before getting ready for bed as part of my nightly routine and I'd still go without fail every morning. I did notice that my pee was a lot clearer in color from before I started this challenge(sorry for the personal information), which means that I was more hydrated.

I also noticed that I drank more water when I was sitting down doing assignments or when I was in the car driving from place to place, versus when I was busy at work or standing and doing something else. Something that I noticed has motivated me to drink more water is the fact I had placed water bottles in different areas where I would be. I had one beside my bed, one on the kitchen counter, and then one that I would carry in the car or at work with me. This made water a lot more accessible to me and I would find myself sipping on water more often because it was within an arm's length away.

I think it's too early to tell of any drastic changes in my physical health just yet, but I did notice some small changes. For example, I noticed that my lips were not as dry and I didn't have to apply my ChapStick as often especially right now as it's winter. I also noticed I didn't "need" to drink my coffee first thing in the morning. I would grab a glass of water and didn't feel like I had to have a coffee to function in the morning!

So far for week 1, drinking 12 cups of water every day has been a positive experience for me. I'm curious to see if I can finish drinking 12 cups each day for week 2. Maybe I will get another water bottle and place it in the bathroom to drink those extra few cups of water I was missing haha. Stick around and see how I do in week 2 of this challenge. Thanks for reading and see you next week!

Water: A Daily Requirement

Hello fellow readers!  You may have heard that drinking 8 cups of water is important for your health, but do you know why? Is 8 cups really the amount everyone should be drinking? Before finding out how drinking enough water every day affects my body, I wanted to find out how much water my body needs every day and what tips I can do to do so. So go ahead, grab a glass of water, and let's get started!  First I researched how much water I should be drinking in a day. I learned that there are different answers to this question for everyone. Daily water consumption varies from your exercise, the environment, your overall health, and for women if they are pregnant or breastfeeding. I found it challenging to know the correct answer to the question: what is the recommended daily water intake? Water Intake Recommendations Infographic. (n.d.). Retrieved January 20, 2024   There are multiple different answers on different websites that I've searched. Some would say six to eight gla...

Final push

Hello readers, I'm back with my last update on the water challenge I decided to take on. So, how did it go? Well, let me tell you, it was not easy. But it was so worth it. Here are some of the things I learned, enjoyed, and struggled with, and what I would change about this experience. I’ve learned a couple of things during the past few weeks, drinking water has so many great benefits for your body. I learned that I had lots more energy throughout the day not as tired and I noticed my skin was not as dry at the end of the day. I found that I was more alert, focused, and happy when I drank enough water. At the end of this challenge, I tried to make drinking water a bit more fun by adding some fruits and substituting water for some herbal teas. These variations made me look forward to drinking more water. Something I enjoyed about this was seeing all the small positive changes to my physical health. I was in a better mood overall and my skin has never looked better! I was proud o...
